In order to support animated pics on your BlackBerry profile, now RIM has launced the new version of BlackBerry Messenger. In v6.1, users can download and perform the animated GIF inside the profile. Your friends will be amazed how you can display the animated avatars in your profile. Sounds obnoxious? You betcha. Thankfully, they only come to life when you hover over them, unlike the jolly fellow to the left who will ROFL until the end of time, or you explode with rage and punch your display. BBM will include some preloaded animations, including “in love”, “smile”, and “laughter”, but you’ll be able to load up your own too. On top of that, BBM 6.1 will have 12 new emoticons, double character limit for status messages, coloured chat bubbles on a per-contact basis, and the ability to set avatar images directly from the native camera application.

Gaming was a massive part of BlackBerry DevCon 2011 last week, thanks not only to a range of high-grade developer tools becoming available to game makers, but also lots of releases. We got a sneak peak at big-name title, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, during the DevCon general keynote, and took some time at the show to try it out first-hand. There were a bunch of other games which launched during or around DevCon, like Backbreaker 2 (an upcoming football title), action game Spider-Man, Cut the Rope, and Spacelings (both casual puzzle games). Off-camera, I played a bit of ToFu, which was really, really fun, and worth checking out.

In the weeks leading up to the show, both EA and Gameloft had spat out a bunch of titles onto App World, like Dead Space, SimCity, Modern Combat, and N.O.V.A. Now that the native C++ software development kit is out in the open, I think we can expect a steady stream of rich 3D apps on the PlayBook – so long as RIM can capture some developer mindshare, that is. With all of these games flying around, I think consumers are going to be a little fuzzy on RIM’s marketing message, seeing as the PlayBook’s original pitch was to be the first enterprise-ready tablet. Don’t get me wrong, games are huge, and it’s great that the PlayBook can handle them, but when you try to please everybody, the message gets a bit watered down. Are businesspeople supposed to take the PlayBook seriously when there’s no BES manageability and RIM spends so much time showing off the games? Can consumers seriously consider the PlayBook if they can only get access to the native e-mail app if they own a BlackBerry smartphone, and it’s paired up over Bluetooth? Meanwhile, other 7-inch tablets are threatening to undercut the PlayBook’s pricetag by over 50%, which may be perfect for folks who just need a browser and video player in their tablet.

Even with these games and upcoming Android app support, it sounds to me that the versatility of the PlayBook still needs some work if RIM wants to honestly sell it to the mass market. But hey, yay games, right? Here are a few demos, plus a considerably flashier one made by RIM.

Google Wallet is a mobile payment system developed by Google that allows its users to store credit cards, loyalty cards, and gift cards among other things, as well as redeeming sales promotions on their mobile phone. Google Wallet uses near field communication to "make secure payments fast and convenient by simply tapping the phone on any PayPass-enabled terminal at checkout."

Google demonstrated the app at a press conference on May 26, 2011. The app was released on September 19, 2011.[3] The app will only be available for the Sprint Nexus S 4G although Google plans to develop the app for more phones.

The service will work with over 300,000 MasterCard PayPass merchant locations , with VISA licensing their PayWave NFC system to Google for use in Wallet as of 20/09/2011.

NFC may or may not be the future of on-the-go banking, but for most Android fans it's pretty damn cool. That's why there was a whole lot of disappointment when Google decided to go exclusive with Sprint and the Nexus S 4G on the Google Wallet app for Android, leaving the majority of Nexus S users out of the picture. This likely has something to do with money (it always does), Isis mobile payment, and competition, but we don't really care about any of that -- we just want to play with our NFC chip.

Now we can, thanks to hacks. Users have found that the files included in the Sprint version of the Nexus S 4G work just fine on other Nexus S phones -- both stock and with custom ROMs. Installation is easy enough (though you do need to be rooted and/or running a custom recovery), just flash a package or move a few files.

There's a big caveat here, however. While it's cool that we're able to circumvent the restrictions of exactly who gets to use this, we're not so sure Google and MasterCard will be happy with the $10 credits people who aren't eligible are getting. If you are the owner of Samsung Omnia 7 and feel difficulty to share your internet connection to others because WP7 as default doesn't provide any ways to enable it, you can start to follow this tutorial. You can start to internet tether to treat your Windows Phone 7 device as wifi hotspot. You can start to serve your clients whether they are Android, iOS, Symbian or laptop users, they can enjoy your Wi-fi sharing. I find this tutorial on XDA forum and I suggest you to read carefully also how to internet tether on WP7 in this case Samsung Omnia 7.

Here's the things you must follow:

FIRST THINGS FIRST

You need a developer unlocked Omnia 7 / Focus on Mango

WHAT YOU NEED

Isolated Storage Explorer
NOTE: unpack and install vm_web2.exe first (it will download a 500mb++ file during installation, so it's best to do this first). then unpack ISE_GUI_1.1.rar, inside is the isolated storage explorer)

4. Using Isolated Storage Explorer deploy enclosed provxml files in hs.zip

4.a to do this: run Isolated storage explorer on your PC with your device plugged in and screen-unlocked. (DiagProvXML does not need to be running on your phone)
4.b paste this value on Product GUID text box: 566814df-f6b6-4154-8be5-9e65dce907c0
4.c click GET DATA button and save on your desktop.
4.d open the downloaded folder and paste there the 4 xml files from hs.zip
4.e click the Upload folder to Isolated Storage and select the same folder you just worked on, and upload!

5. Run DiagProvXML on your phone, swipe to ISO Store and you should see the xml files, hold and click execute on each one following this order: hotspot, hotspot1, mxip_hotspotconfig_01, EnableAutoDataConfig.

6. Check in settings that you can now see Internet Sharing between Bluetooth and accounts!

7. Reboot

8. Deploy WP7 Root Tools (Heathcliff)

9. Now launch WP7 Root Tools and go to Local Machine -> Comm -> InternetSharing -> Settings and manualy add new value (+val button):

Recently I found most of my friends' update on their BBM wrote "Caro, Playing Caro".
In my mind and my heart, I felt so curious until I know what is that.

Caro based on what I've searched and found, is a simple strategy game which like Othello. This game needs our strategy to solve until we can win. Caro isn't hard to play, you also can play Caro if your BlackBerry OS version is 5.0 and your BlackBerry Messenger version has 6.0.

Not all the process could be smoothly running as we expect. Sometimes problem appears unexpectedly. That's why we need to download stock kernel for certain phones.

Now, thanks to XDA member bubby323 we now have an unrooted stock kernel available to flash via ODIN. If you get any issue during or after rooting your phone, you will have a way to restore the kernel back to its original state. The process is simple if you have any previous experience using ODIN.

With a completely stock kernel pulled from a phone that has never been rooted, developers can compile custom kernels that don't use unofficial pieces from international phones, and anybody can restore the stock kernel with Odin. Therefore, there is no risk in rooting your phone anymore.

If you find yourself wanting to flash the stock EG30 kernel that you can download over at ACS, then you're going to want to become acquainted with Odin.
Once you've come to know (and most likely love) Odin, you can flash the kernel tar by putting it in the PDA slot. No pit is needed when you are flashing a kernel, and you should always make sure the ONLY thing checked on the left side is auto reboot and NOT repartition.

Once the tar is in PDA and you have double checked that repartition is NOT selected you can go ahead and start the flashing process. If you've done everything the right way then your phone will boot into the lockscreen and you can go on your way.
