Google Wallet app for All Nexus S Hacked by XDA Member

Google Wallet is a mobile payment system developed by Google that allows its users to store credit cards, loyalty cards, and gift cards among other things, as well as redeeming sales promotions on their mobile phone. Google Wallet uses near field communication to "make secure payments fast and convenient by simply tapping the phone on any PayPass-enabled terminal at checkout."

Google demonstrated the app at a press conference on May 26, 2011. The app was released on September 19, 2011.[3] The app will only be available for the Sprint Nexus S 4G although Google plans to develop the app for more phones.

The service will work with over 300,000 MasterCard PayPass merchant locations , with VISA licensing their PayWave NFC system to Google for use in Wallet as of 20/09/2011.

NFC may or may not be the future of on-the-go banking, but for most Android fans it's pretty damn cool. That's why there was a whole lot of disappointment when Google decided to go exclusive with Sprint and the Nexus S 4G on the Google Wallet app for Android, leaving the majority of Nexus S users out of the picture. This likely has something to do with money (it always does), Isis mobile payment, and competition, but we don't really care about any of that -- we just want to play with our NFC chip.

Now we can, thanks to hacks. Users have found that the files included in the Sprint version of the Nexus S 4G work just fine on other Nexus S phones -- both stock and with custom ROMs. Installation is easy enough (though you do need to be rooted and/or running a custom recovery), just flash a package or move a few files.

There's a big caveat here, however. While it's cool that we're able to circumvent the restrictions of exactly who gets to use this, we're not so sure Google and MasterCard will be happy with the $10 credits people who aren't eligible are getting. Version 5 can be installed without full wipe.. but if it fails try process below

Installation Instruction:

1) download your rom and gapps (i used cyanogen nightly builds) (gapps i used are posted for download below)
2) download attached zip for google wallet (new version posted below)
3) do a full backup! Just incase
4) make sure all files are on your phone
5) reboot into recovery (i used clockwork)
6) do a full wipe
7) install rom and kernal if you have one
8) flash google wallet zip
9) flash gapps
10) reboot
11) sign into google accound
12) open google wallet (may force close first time)
13) set it up or restart phone
14) ENJOY!

stock ROMs

Just after getting the 2.3.6 ota on my USA import Nexus i9020a I decided to try the Google Wallet files from the NS4G 2.3.7.... They worked. I even could add the prepaid 10$ card and i'm on SaskTel in Canada .

Attached is a flashable zip that should work on all i902x models (i can't test it since i'm in Canada).

Install Method: Unsigned, must flash through ClockworkMod Recovery.
Compatibility: i9020A/i9020T/i9023 (2.3.6)
Other Roms: It may work on roms other than the 2.3.6 ota but if it doesn't just remove the files listed below via ADB.
